Sanger identified Wikipedia's anonymity policy as a central problem, arguing it obscures who is shaping content on the platform. He stated that "what we know as fact, based on all sorts of evidence, is that the CIA has already edited Wikipedia."
To restore credibility, Sanger proposed several reforms: requiring public identities for senior Wikipedia functionaries, establishing due-process protections in disciplinary cases, implementing public article ratings, and creating elected positions responsible for setting platform policy.
"Wikipedia is already compromised. That's clear," Sanger told the newspaper, emphasizing that ideological bias embedded in the encyclopedia is now being amplified because AI systems increasingly reference its content when answering factual queries.
