Security Operation and Threat Assessment
Shin Bet confirmed the evacuation in a statement, saying: "There was a significant threat to harm Yair Netanyahu, and in light of this and after an assessment, a decision was made to urgently extract him along with his security team and return him to Israel."
The disclosure came days after Netanyahu told Israel's Channel 14 in a telephone interview that Iran had "tried to murder" one of his sons, without specifying which one or offering details about the alleged plot.
According to an unnamed US law enforcement source cited by Newsmax, Israeli intelligence uncovered a plot against Yair in December of last year. Iranian operatives allegedly monitored his residence and movements. To carry out the extraction, Shin Bet reassigned agents who had been protecting Israeli President Isaac Herzog in New York at the time, Channel 12 reported. Yair was ordered to leave immediately and returned to Israel, reportedly without collecting his belongings.
